Eric Boyd, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s A.I. platform advices four main use cases that he’s seen businesses big and small successfully address with A.I

  1. Content creation, such as using a language model to create a script or draft up options for ad copy.
  2. Content summarization, such as getting the gist of a large collection of user reviews or understanding how your business is being perceived on social media.
  3. Code generation, such as requesting a model to write a code to integrate multiple software APIs together so they can share information.
  4. Semantic search, such as asking a model to search through troves of customer support documentation to find an answer to a specific question.

Another common use case Boyd highlighted is using A.I. to foster more meaningful interaction with company data. Some companies, particularly those with massive amounts of data, have used Microsoft’s analysis platform Fabric to consolidate all their data in one location before using Azure’s A.I. Studio to create a generative A.I. application that can answer any questions related to company data.

Boyd also expect Copilots, Microsoft’s term for A.I.-powered personal assistants, will  become invaluable for workers at all levels, from interns to CEOs. At the Ignite presentation, the company announced Copilot Studio, a tool that allows users to create their own custom assistants without any coding required. These custom Copilots can be connected to your business data, which Boyd believes will dramatically improve workplace productivity by enabling office workers to spend less time on tedious tasks.   While these are some of the most common use cases, Boyd says the only way to find your own perfect use of A.I. is through experimentation.
